Janice Anderson

December 16, 2020 by Melissa Waggoner

Anderson is master of her love for textures and shapes, as evidenced by her exquisite and richly colored artworks in mixed media collage with discarded books.

Anderson weaves complex assemblages and intricate collage from discarded book covers, supporting ephemera and carefully placed related found objects. Her artworks encompass an assortment of techniques to preserve and honor the written word. Working in collage with discarded books has the advantage of readily aged papers, worn patina and nostalgic images. She creates artworks that hint at stories indicative of a shared human experience. In her work one can see the immense appreciation she has for each object, for every selected scrap of paper, for her relentless pursuit of creative perfections and meticulous craftsmanship.
