Our Mission
Georgetown Art Center is a welcoming environment for visitors to view, appreciate, create, and purchase art. Through innovative, intelligent exhibits and programs, we promote visual literacy in the greater community.
Who We Are
The Georgetown Art Center is part of the Texas Cultural District located in Georgetown’s historic square. The facility opened in the Fall of 2013 and Georgetown Art Works, a local non-profit, manages all the programs with leadership from an all volunteer board.
What We Do
Art Exhibits are in continuous rotation in the main gallery throughout the year. Art education, Art camps, and pop-up shows are held in the First Floor Studio periodically. The second floor contains artist studios for rent.

A Bit of History
The Art Center is housed in a historic building just off the Williamson County square. Originally the city of Georgetown’s city hall, jail, waterworks, and fire station, the 123-year-old Firehouse Number 1 was transformed in a renovation in 2013. The Georgetown Art Center opened in October of 2013 and has been run by a dedicated staff of volunteers and the Georgetown Art Works 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Board & Staff
Georgetown Art Works is the Texas nonprofit organization selected by the City of Georgetown to manage the Art Center. While striving to further the mission of the Georgetown Art Center, GAW also seeks to represent the visual arts within the larger arts and culture community of Georgetown. In collaborating with the Georgetown arts and culture community, GAW strives to promote Georgetown as an arts destination and a Texas Cultural District, so designated by the Texas Commission on the Arts.
Exhibition Process
Each year, the Art Center selects a panel of curators, artists, gallery owners, and guest judges with considerable experience in the visual arts to review artist proposals. The panel recommends finalists to the Georgetown Art Center Exhibits Committee, where final selections are made.
